Details: Get ready to enjoy an evening of mingle and mix bowling while having a fun and relaxing time networking with Young Professionals of Akron! This will be YPA's first social event of 2009 and will be a great opportunity to meet current and new members, as teams will be picked randomly. Pizza, soft drinks, and other snacks will be provided.
Note: Your admission price includes shoes and 2 games. You are required to pay for additional games.
Price: $8 for paid YPA members; $10 for unpaid members/guests (pay ahead of time via PayPal! Details coming in next blast)

Details:The fifth Networking in the Middle event will feature food and drink, entertainment and activities, as well as an opportunity to experience the Japanese blockbuster show, KIMONO AS ART. We are finalizing details for this exciting event, and will be in touch soon with additional information! KIMONO is only visiting two American cities: San Diego and Canton, and may never be back in the United States again. KIMONO closed in San Diego on January 4, where the San Diego Union Tribune's art critic called it one of the two best arts show of 2008. It opens in Canton on Sunday Feb 8, for a 3-month run surrounded by a Japanese cultural celebration featuring more than 80 KIMONO related events.

Details: Join the YPA as we fight the litterbug and lend a hand at making our community a more beautiful place to live and work. This year Keep Akron Beautiful is hosting the 28th annual Clean Up Akron Week from April 18-25, concluding with an awards ceremony at the Akron Zoo. On Super Saturday April 25, the YPA will gather at the Canal at Lock 3 Park and once the last cigarette butt has been picked-up, we will head to the Zoo for lunch.
First 30 people to RSVP and submit completed liability form will receive a wristband for lunch and admission to the zoo.

Details: Hey YPA'ers, it's time to put your hands together and make some noise! Come out for a night of outdoor networking and entertainment! Enjoy live music from Cats on Holiday beginning at 7pm followed by the Dave Matthews Tribute Band at 8:30pm.

Details: Sign up to volunteer with a classic Akron organization on their biggest day of the year. Young professionals are needed to help with various functions of the 72nd All-American Soap Box Derby World Championship. Various positions are available from handling racecars, directing race participants, taking tickets, and selling programs. Lend your hand and be a part of an iconic Akron organization. Volunteers will be treated to refreshments and lunch. Event is rain or shine

CYO Home Service Volunteer Project

Details: YPA has teamed up with CYO’s Home Service Project whose mission is to strengthen communities and enable low-income older adults to remain in their homes by matching them with caring volunteers who can provide light home and yard maintenance services. YPA volunteers are being requested for a morning of teambuilding, networking, and volunteerism as we help prepare a few local homeowners for the winter months.
YPA will meet at the CYO Office at 9 am (coffee, bagels, doughnuts, etc will be provided) where tools, materials, and directions to work site(s) will be given.
Volunteers must sign and submit a liability wavier to Brian Duchon by October 20th. Completed waivers can be emailed to bduchon@uwsummit.org or mailed to Brian D. Duchon at United Way of Summit County P.O. Box 1260 Akron, Ohio 44309. When TBD/tentative details are finalized, they will be updated on the site, within the email blasts, and Brian will alert all registered volunteers.

There will be a minimum donation of $10, which will be used to adopt-a-family and help make their holiday season bright! Last year’s generous donations allowed us to adopt 3 families with a total of 7 kids!.
