Details: Excited to hear what YPA is planning for the upcoming year? Want to give some suggestions for potential YPA events? Have ideas on how to improve YPA and get more people involved? Just want to network with some cool people? If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, then join us on the evening of January 14 as YPA kicks off 2010! While we have some great ideas for the upcoming year, we intentionally leave plenty of room in our schedule for new ideas that are generated during this open-forum brainstorming session.
Once the Kickoff Meeting ends, we’ll move down the street to Crave for networking in the bar area. Crave is walking distance from the Library, on 57 E Market St.
In addition, the start of the new year is the perfect time to become a member and/or update your information, as we’re providing a 30% discount during the month of January! For only $35 (rather than $50) you can become/renew your YPA membership. During 2010, you’ll see multiple events that have a discounted admission fee if you’re a member, so January is the month to sign up. Membership forms will be available at the meeting, or fill it out ahead of time by clicking here. Provide any updated email addresses, name changes, etc to our email address.

Young Professionals and Next Generation Leaders Night with the Zips

Details:Join YPA, YPN, the Greater Akron Chamber, Next Generation Leaders, United Way Young Leaders Society, Young Professionals of First Energy and more for a night of fun, networking, and college basketball! Starting at 5:30, we’ll have a networking pregame social, where there will be complimentary appetizers and a cash bar with “happy hour” prices. Then, at 7:00, we’ll watch the Zips take on the Miami Redhawks!
Tickets for this event are $6.00, which includes admission to the pregame social and the basketball game! Tickets must be ordered in advance by calling Katy Ludington at 330-972-8318 or through email at kluding@uakron.edu

Details: Get ready to enjoy an evening of mingle and mix bowling while having a fun and relaxing time networking with Young Professionals of Akron! This will be YPA's first social event of 2010 and will be a great opportunity to meet current and new members, as teams will be picked randomly. Pizza and soft drinks will be provided.
Note: Your admission price includes shoes and 2 games. You are required to pay for additional games.

Details:Join the YPA as we fight the litterbug and lend a hand at making our community a more beautiful place to live and work. This year Keep Akron Beautiful is hosting the 29th annual Clean Up Akron Week and on Super Saturday April 24, the YPA will join forces to hold a "Trash Treasure Hunt"!
Coffee: Meet at Damacus Coffee from 7:30-8:30 while YPA treats volunteers to coffee and bagels. Damacus Coffee is located at 106 S. Main St. in the First Merit Tower. Use the entrance on the Mill Street side for direct access.
Cleanup: From the coffee shop we will walk to our cleanup site which will be located in the downtown area. The Cleanup will take place from 8:30-11:30 and include "Trash Treasure Hunt" a scavenger style group game. The exact site location has yet to be determined but will be sent to registered volunteers prior to the event.
Lunch: After the cleanup volunteers are invited to the Akron Zoo for a recognition ceremony, lunch, and free admission. Lunch is from noon-1 and volunteers are free to explore the park once they finish their meals. The Akron Zoo is located at 500 Edgewood Drive in Akron.
The first 30 people to RSVP and submit a completed liability form will receive a YPA T-shirt, wristband for lunch, and admission to the zoo. Details: Summer is heating up in downtown Akron, so YPA has planned a cool event! Join us at Whiskey Dick's for a unique evening: not only will we have plenty of networking opportunities and even a fun summer game, but YPA has asked volunteers from several non-profit agencies in the area to be on-hand to offer information and answer questions about their respective groups in a no-pressure setting. We'll have representatives from the United Way, Big Brothers, and Habitat for Humanity on site, so if you've ever had a question or wanted to get more involved with another group, this is the event for you! Appetizers will be provided, and there will be a grill set up outside for those of you who wish to purchase great food hot off the grill.

Details: Join YPA, YPN and the Young Professionals of FirstEnergy as we host a Young Professionals Networking Night at the Aeros! Bring your business cards as well as your hometown spirit to cheer on the Akron Aeros! Guests will have an opportunity to mix and mingle with other fellow YP's, watch the game and enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet of hotdogs, baked beans, chips and popcorn; all for only $10. Networking is from 5 to 7 pm and the game starts at 7:05 pm.
Those interested in attending must register and pay in advance. Walk-ins will be required to pay for the game and food separately, so don't miss out on this great deal! The day of the event, registered guests should enter the stadium at Gate B, near the Wing Warehouse, on the corner of State and Main Streets. Guests can sign in and receive their wristband and ticket. The deadline to RSVP is noon on July 7th.
